For those of you who have been using X3 off SVN this will be old news. But for the people who have never used and/or heard of X3 before this is relevent. X3 is a set of irc services based off srvx. Designed as an upgrade from X2, X3 contains all the features from X2 and more. Some srvx commands have been removed and/or redone. Click read more for a full listing of features. X3 has been in use on AfterNET for over a year now. |

Thats right a new release of Nefarious IRCu. We highly reccommend that you upgrade from 0.4.0 especially if you are running the tarball version of 0.4.0. This version is still based on 2.10.11. This will be our final 2.10.11 release. New features in Nefarious IRCu 1.0.1 include: - Topic setter bursted, no more servernames for topic setters after splits.
- Multiple dnsbl support, if a person is on more than one dnsbl then it will show all of them in WHOIS, all are bannable via the dnsbl marking code.
- DNSBL support for places like zz.countries.nerd.dk.
- Expiring dnsbl exempts.
- Silences bursted.
- SHUN command for shutting clients up.
- SVSINFO command for changing a clients realname field.
- Ban exemptions +e will get you past +ilkr.
- MD5 sum output in remote info queries.
- Server side LIST searching support (from 2.10.12).
Bug fixes:
Note nick glines have been removed. The code didnt compile anyway. To download this you can either pick it up off our SVN repository under branches (NOT trunk); or download it off sourceforge. The tarball contains the svn dirs so if we ever make a change to Nefarious 1.0.1 you can just run svn update. The only changes that we will make to the branch will be bug fixes. If you have any further questions drop into our irc channel on irc.afternet.org #evilnet

Nefarious 1.0 (0.5) with svn versions prior to 1699 are vulnerable to anexploit in the host-in-topic code. If you are using either the 0.5 development branch, or an early 1.0 stable release prior to to SVN1699, disable host-in-topic using F: lines (which is the default) or upgrade to the latest version. Certain conditions combined with setting a long topic can result in a buffer overflow, which could, in theory, lead to an exploit. This has been fixed in build SVN commit 1699 and later. The old stable (0.4.x) builds of nefarious are not vulnerable, as host-in-topic is not available in them.

Lately ive been working on the Undernet GNUWorld howto document, bringing it up to date and adding various bits. This howto does include instructions for our mod.chanfix and mod.auth so use this howto and ignore the news article containing just mod.chanfix instructions. So here it is Click here to access the Howto Please note, this is NOT supported in #coder-com on Undernet. If you have problems come to irc.afternet.org #evilnet. Click Read More to see the bits ive updated in the howto
